DIN EN 50699 (VDE 0702)

VDE 0702 defines the requirements for test procedures to be used for periodic testing of portable electrical equipment.

Transition period until September 2023

VDE 0702 came into force on June 1, 2021. For DIN VDE 0701-0702:2008-06, a transition period until 23.09.2023 applies.

What does this mean in practice?

For line with a Core cross section from 2.5 mm² significantly lower limits apply to the protective conductor resistance.
The old regulation “0.1 Ohm per 7.5 m” no longer applies. Permitted is only the calculated Resistance of the copper wire plus 0.1 Ohm for all plug and terminal connections. Wear and corrosion of connectors and cables quickly cause their operating equipment to fail the test.
